Registration

Rider registration opens at 10 AM and closes 30-minutes prior to each race. All racers must bring HELMET to REGISTRATION for timing chip application. Registration is on Pine St. in the Expo area directly behind the Start/Finish line.

Directions

From I-80 east-bound take the Highway 49/Grass Valley exit north in Auburn to Grass Valley and continue approximately 28 miles north to Nevada City. From I-80 west-bound take the Highway 20/Nevada City exit north to Nevada City. From Chico take Highway 20 east to Grass Valley and then Nevada City. See “Parking” below for desired exit in Nevada City.

Parking

This is a historic town with narrow winding streets, so leave extra time for parking. For street parking 1/4 to 1/2 mile south of the course take the Sacramento Street exit and turn left over highway 49. Continue up Sacramento Street and park in neighborhoods around the Tour of Nevada City Bicycle Shop. For parking just east of the course or on streets surrounding the course take the Broad street exit and turn right (east) to public parking or turn left to public parking and streets surrounding the course (Broad street and Union Street are closed after 12PM due to the race). For parking north of the course turn left on the Downieville/Highway 49 exit and drive 1/4 mile to Maidu (right), parking at the Nevada County Government Center (Rood Center). This huge parking lot is just a 1/4 mile walk from top of race course. Please Cross Highway 49 with caution if walking or riding and follow Orchard Street to the course!

Course

Course starts at Broad Street and Pine St. in downtown and continues counterclockwise to Union, Commercial, York, North Pine, Cottage, Main, East Broad, back to Broad Street. Course is a 1.1 mile loop with 110 foot stair-step climb from York to East Broad and an additional rolling hill along East Broad. Speeds up to 50 mph can be reached down Broad Street through town. Due to the nature of the course, no free lap is in effect. Lapped riders may be pulled at officials’ discretion to ensure safety and accuracy in finish placing. Warming up on the course is not possible after 12 PM due to time constraints and safety issues. Warm up on neighborhood streets or on a trainer.

Neutral Support

Neutral wheels are available at the start/finish on West Broad Street. Neutral
water is available at top of Main Street along with a rider feed zone (feed zone is not neutral – racer’s responsibility).

Note:

  • Current District Criterium Champions pay $7 insurance fee only. Previous men’s/women’s Pro 1/2 winners pay $7 insurance fee only. This race is held under USCF permit (pending).
  • $9,000 minimum cash, primes & prizes provided for overall event purse.
  • 75 rider field limit for Jr’s, 100 rider limit for Women & amateur cats, 125 rider limit for Pro/1/2 Men
  • Day-of registration available, but categories may fill-up early. $10 late fee for all categories for day-of registration. (NO refunds, contact promoter directly with questions.)
